What does MGF actually mean?

PEG-MGF is the isolated MGF fragment attached to polyethylene glycol, a modification intended to slow clearance and extend exposure. PEG-MGF is therefore not another nickname for natural IGF-1Ec, and evidence about the transcript or unmodified fragment cannot simply be pasted onto it. A longer-lasting design is a design choice, not a demonstrated human benefit.

In 2014, four research groups across three companies tried to reproduce MGF activity in mouse myoblasts, primary human skeletal-muscle myoblasts, and primary mouse muscle stem cells. MGF did not increase proliferation or delay differentiation, even at concentrations up to 500 ng/mL; mature IGF-1 did respond in the same systems (Fornaro et al.).
That disagreement is the evidence, not housekeeping. Positive cell work makes MGF worth studying. The failed replication keeps the headline tier at mixed in-vitro evidence, none in humans.
