Lyophilized (freeze-dried)

Definition
Lyophilized means freeze-dried — water is removed under vacuum, leaving a stable powder that must be mixed with liquid before it can be used.
Lyophilized is a fancy word for freeze-dried. The vial you receive holds a small puck or dusting of powder because the water has been pulled out of it — first by freezing the peptide solution, then using a vacuum to make the ice vanish straight into vapor without melting. What’s left behind is dry, stable peptide.
It’s the same trick behind instant coffee and freeze-dried strawberries: remove the water and the product can sit on a shelf for a long time without spoiling. Peptides in liquid tend to degrade; take the water away and they hold up far better during shipping and storage.
The catch is that a freeze-dried powder isn’t usable as-is. Before you can measure or inject it, it has to be reconstituted — mixed back with a sterile liquid, usually bacteriostatic water, to become a solution again. That’s the step that turns the dry puck into something you can draw into a syringe.
For a concrete example, imagine two vials labeled BPC-157 and TB-500 arriving as dry pucks rather than ready-made liquids for measurement. In each case, the compound name tells you what the vial is meant to contain, while “lyophilized” tells you its physical form and why the vial still needs liquid. During reconstitution, you add a specified volume of a suitable liquid so the dry material becomes a solution; the resulting concentration depends on the stated amount in the vial and the volume added. That one word does not confirm the vial’s identity, purity, sterility, storage history, or label accuracy—it only says the material was freeze-dried, so those separate quality questions still have to be checked.
So when a product page says “lyophilized,” expect a powder in the vial, expect it to be reasonably stable in that form, and expect a reconstitution step before any dosing.
